About The Space Between

The Space Between is an independent publication by Nicole (me) about life and everything that somehow happens in between.

There is no niche here. Some days this space might be about movement, health or something fascinating I recently learned. Other days it might be about books, people, growing up, getting older, autumn arriving, something that annoyed the fuck out of me or a thought I couldn’t quite leave alone. Sometimes there might only be a few sentences or a poem.

The Space Between exists because I don’t believe we are supposed to fit neatly into one version of ourselves.

We can be loud and quiet. Serious and ridiculous. Disciplined and wonderfully unproductive. We can change our minds, contradict ourselves, outgrow things we once loved and become fascinated by something entirely new.

There is space for all of it here.

More than something to read

The Space Between might occasionally leave the internet, too.

There might be runs. Picnics. Walks. Little outings. Coffee. Events that don’t fit neatly into any particular category. Opportunities to meet other humans, do something together and perhaps leave with a person in your life who wasn’t there before.

You don’t have to be an athlete. You don’t have to be particularly outgoing. You don’t have to become anything before you belong.

Just come as whoever you happen to be that day.

Stay for a while

You can subscribe if you’d like new writing and occasional updates delivered to your inbox. No algorithm deciding whether you should see it. No need to remember to come looking.

I don’t know exactly what The Space Between will become yet.

I think that’s rather the point.
